Full Day Tour - Faial Island

This is a standard itinerary for this tour. The time available at each location can be changed according to the group's preferences.

Monte da Guia (15 minutes)

• Monte da Guia is a volcanic cone, with two semicircular craters. From this location you will have a privileged view of Porto Pim beach and the city of Horta.

Nossa Senhora da Conceicao Viewpoint (15 minutes)

• From this location you can see the city's historic center and Horta bay on one side and Almoxarife Beach on the other. You can also see the neighboring Pico Island and the highest point in Portugal, Pico Mountain. On days without clouds, you can still see the island of São Jorge and Graciosa. Without a doubt, a place with a privileged view!

Flamengos (passes through)

•  On the route to Caldeira do Faial we will travel along a road with excellent views of the entire parish of Flamengos. This is the only parish on the island that does not have direct access to the sea and is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. Find out why it's called Flamengos!

Caldeira do Faial Natural Reserve (30 minutes)

• Located in the middle of the island, Caldeira is the true ex-libris of Faial. It is one of the largest volcanic craters in the Azores, and was at the origin of the island, measuring around 2000 meters in diameter, 7000 meters in perimeter and 400 meters deep. In this impressive place you will have the possibility to take a short walk, take unique photos or simply observe what the force of nature can create.

 Almoxarife Beach (30 minutes)

• Visit to one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with views of Pico, São Jorge and Graciosa islands. This is the largest volcanic sand beach in Faial and one of the largest in the Azores. You will have free time at this location. You can choose to have a drink at a local cafe, take a walk along the beach, around the parish, or take a swim in our temperate waters. From here we will head for lunch at a local restaurant, away from the typical tourist routes so you can have a more authentic experience.

Ponta Furada Viewpoint (10 minutes)

• A coastal location of great beauty where you can observe the contact between the basalt and the sea. Here there are several caves and geological formations that will certainly please you.

Capelinhos volcano (40 minutes)

• Place of great volcanic beauty. The Capelinhos Volcano is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Atlantic, particularly in the Azores. Its landscape takes us to a lunar environment. Enjoy the contrast between the gray of the sands and the green of the hills and the blue of the sky and sea.

Natural Pools of Porto do Comprido (15 minutes)

•  Still in Capelinhos, we will visit the Natural Pools of Porto do Comprido. These pools were formed by basalt rocks, which resulted from the solidification of incandescent lava in the sea. We will pass by the whale village that once existed in this location but is now almost completely buried by volcanic sand and ash. In the 19th century, Porto do Comprido was one of the most important whaling stations in the Azores archipelago.

• There may be changes to the places to visit depending on the weather or season. Whenever it is not possible to visit a place described in the itinerary, we will go to other places of interest so that you can make the most of your day.

• This tour will have up to 8 travelers.

• For families with children aged 0 to 11, booking is only possible privately. This is the way we find to provide the best experiences for families who visit us and, of course, for their children. This way the day will have the right rhythm so you can have a wonderful day in Faial.

• Private Tours can be customized according to customer preferences.

Customers are free to cancel their booking at any time and receive a full refund up to 8 days before the tour starts, with the exception of the booking fee and Stripe platform interbank fee.

Cancellations between 7 and 4 days before the start of the tour will incur a 50% charge.

Cancellations 3 days before tour start or no-shows are non-refundable.

Customers will also receive a full refund (excluding the booking fee and Stripe platform interbank fee) or credit in the event of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
