Discover Faial Island
The Blue Pearl of the Azores
Faial Island, located in the heart of the
Azores Archipelago, covers just
173 km² — the perfect size to explore on a
full-day tour or a
half-day excursion with
TrilhosR. Small in scale but grand in beauty, this island enchants visitors with its volcanic landscapes, blue hydrangeas, stunning viewpoints, and the warm hospitality of its people.
Why Visit Faial?
Breathtaking nature: craters, cliffs, the iconic Capelinhos Volcano, and the Faial Caldera
Rich history and culture: sailors, whalers, and a deep connection to the sea
Comfort and safety: excellent roads, peaceful atmosphere, and friendly locals
Pure water and mild climate: drink safely from the tap and enjoy pleasant weather (though unpredictable — bring a rain jacket!)
Local cuisine: fresh fish, homemade dishes, and carefully selected local restaurants

Local Experience with Ramiro
I’m Ramiro, the owner of Trilhos R, and I personally guide most of our tours. I also love traveling, discovering new places, cultures, and flavors — so I organize each excursion the same way I’d like it to be done for me.
Every tour is designed to be authentic, informative, and flexible. We can adjust timings and stops according to the group, or create a private tour tailored to your preferences, including hikes or specific stops.
Visiting Faial from Pico Island
Staying on Pico Island? It only takes 25 minutes by ferry to reach Faial — and believe me, the two islands are completely different! If you have the chance, it’s really worth visiting both.
Guide’s Tip
Even if you rent a car on Faial, we recommend starting with our full-day island tour. You’ll get to know Faial in depth and then explore on your own with a better sense of direction — and plenty of insider tips.
